Military Career: On January 11, 1982 I began basic training at MCRD San Diego, Ca. I served on active duty for three years and served as an in-active reservist for three years. I was released from active duty on January 18, 1985. I received an Honorable Discharge in 1988. I was discharged at the rank of Corporal. I served one year at Camp Pendleton, Ca., one year at Quantico, Va. and one year at Iwakuani, Japan.
Civilian Career: I have been a law enforcement officer for twenty-one years. I started as a correctional officer in the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Jail from April 1985 to March 1988. I was a village of Chatham Police Officer from March 1988 to October 1991. I returned to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy on November 1, 1991. My current rank is Sergeant and I am the supervisor of our Crime Prevention/Community Services Division.
Education: I graduated from Southeast High School in Springfield , Illinois in June 1981. I took three Law Enforcement college courses while serving in the Marine Crops.
Community Services: I have served on several local non-for-profit organizations board of directors. Currently, I am the Board of Directors Chairperson for the Illinois Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Park Board Foundation. I serve on an advisory board for our local Animal Control Board. I was the Project Coordinator for a Habitat for Humanity house build. I was the local Toys for Tots Coordinator for 2005.
